ARTIST PROFILE
As a Wolastoqiyik (People of the Beautiful River | Maliseet) artist, I want to expand the representation of my home communities and our cultural practices through representational paintings. My recent process incorporates loose, abstract backgrounds, vibrant colours, and detailed figures on wood panels. Driven by respect for my subject matter, my approach mixes Western art styles with historical and current Indigenous cultural imagery to honour narratives that are significant to who I am as a person and artist.

With limited Wolastoqiyik presence in the art world, I am compelled to find and refine an expression that reflects my visions as an Indigenous painter and artist. With inspiration drawn from the airbrushed paintings of Arlene (Dozay) Christmas and the wisdom of my Elders and family, I am heartened to share my teachings with the world within these works.
